A cidade das Damas: um romance de (anti)tese

The resignification of views inherent to stories that are fossilized in society and that concern particular events or groups has always been hard work, since the morality arising from role models deemed as righteous and natural, within a certain context, must be reconstructed. This is what occurs in The City of the Ladies (1401), by Christine de Pizan, which deconstructs pre-established theses regarding the role of women in the Middle Ages that are supported by renowned authors and by the biblical interpretation of Medieval men of the parables. Therefore, with the aim of broadening the reader’s view, the use of theses and antitheses is observed as reevaluations of role models and, hence, of the morals imbued in them, which have not changed for centuries.A ressignificação das visões constituintes de histórias fossilizadas na sociedade sobre determinados acontecimentos ou grupos sempre foi um trabalho árduo, visto que deve haver a reconstrução da moral advinda de exemplos estipulados como naturais e corretos dentro de um contexto. Não é diferente, portanto, o que ocorre em A Cidade das Damas [Le Livre de la Cité des Dames, 1405], obra de Christine de Pizan, que desconstrói as teses já pré-estabelecidas, respaldadas por renomados autores e pela interpretação bíblica dos homens do Medievo sobre as parábolas, acerca do papel das mulheres na Idade Média. Nesse sentido, observa-se o uso de teses e antíteses, sendo estas as reavaliações dos exemplos e, consequentemente, das morais fundamentadas neles e inalteradas durante séculos, objetivando uma renovação da visão do leitor
