El Sur Projecto

The global issue of injustice prompted me to create the Party Scene in our movie “El Sur.” Similar to the plot of the inspired movie “El Norte,” in which Rosa and Enrique escaped their hardships in Guatemala, my group had Enrique at north campus, where the fraternity parties are held. Like Guatemala, these parties represent a toxic environment with alcohol, discrimination, and violence. The scene highlights Enrique initially not able to get into the party, but eventually he finds a way to join the party that serves alcohol. For our short film, I incorporated the Spanish vocabulary from the lectures, the daily challenges Latin Americans face learned from the readings, and the plot from “El Sur.
