A cow's genetic background and dietary regime impact milk production, including the fine-scale composition of milk. In the study "Which cow for which system?", the effects of two genetic backgrounds and two dietary regimes were explored. A total of 290 milk samples from Normande or Holstein cows were analysed. The results showed that cow breed, dietary regime, lactation stage, and parity had an effect on milk volume and composition (i.e., fat, protein, fatty acid, casein, and calcium content).
