Film adaptation in the field of translation belongs to a category first called intersemiotic by Roman Jakobson in 1959. This paper focuses on the analysis of the adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Shining by Stanley Kubrick, considering it as an intersemiotic translation and observing how the director turns another author’s text into a personal work.
