A Maine Department of Corrections official says plans are under way to implement a McKernan administration proposal to close the Bangor Pre-release Center, where about 30 prisoners are employed and charged for room and board. The Southern Maine Pre-release Center in Windham is also scheduled to close, while the center in Hallowell is to remain open
