The Hallowell-based Maine Women\u27s Policy Center is preparing a release of A Woman\u27s Guide to Pay Equity. Progress on equity has been glacial, according to Sarah Standiford, executive director of the center. In 2001, Maine strengthened its equal pay law, but despite increased attention to the problem, the Maine Department of Labor\u27s Bureau of Labor Standards only fields one or two complaints annually. In 2000, the University of Maine performed a self-audit and implemented pay equity adjustments the following year
