They won the Round Robin affair over three other teams. By winning, the team will now represent the Zone at the High School Provincial Finals in Edmonton this Friday and Saturday. Members of the team are Monte Kunimoto, Wes Hillmer, Jim Jenson and Keith Fellger. Congratulations and Cood Luck in Edmonton. The Band Executive would like to thank the many willing parents who gave their time and good will to make the project a success. We would also like to thank Mr. Wheeler for his enthusiastic support and the janitors who were called upon to keep the Gym open. First round action saw Walker’s Transport defeating Tops Pizza 78-65 while in the second game Bow Island bested Milk River 78-49. The third game Friday evening was won by Cranbrook 77-68 over Magrath Colts and the last game of the first round had Magrath Trading Co. beating Pincher Creek 83-51. Ron Harker led the Colts with 20 while Rod Ririe and Rick Ponomar hit for 12 and 11 respectively. Wes Balderson had 27 for the Trading Co. followed by Rick Chalmers with 19 and Craig Godionton with 16. ” *’ On the consolation side of the draw Tops beat Milk River 98-54 and Pincher Creek edgeci past the Colts 61-60 in overtime. Rod Ririe had 13 points, Ron Harker 11 and Rick Ponomar 8. Tops went on to beat Pincher Creek 1Q2-58 to win the Consolation Trophy. The Colts finally won a game beating Milk River 76-59. Ron Harker was good for 17 with Rick Ponomar hitting for 16 and Randy Ripley 10. Walkers moved on beating Bow Island 87-75 on the Championship side. The Trading Co. bested Cranbrook 83-68 with Rick Chalmers picking up 29 points. Wes Balderson followed with 14 and Mike Sheen and Craig Godionton hit for 12 and 11. Bow Island then beat Cranbrook 86-75 to win the third place honors. In the Championship final, Walkers defeated the Trading Co. 90-85. Half time score was 50-43 in favor of Walkers. Wes Balderson netted 28 pts. while Mike Sheen followed with 24. Rick Chalmers scored 17 in the final game. Craig Hunter of Walkers was awarded the MVP. The Tournament All Stars included Bob Dick of Walkers, Rick Chalmers, Trading Co, Rick Reed of Bow Island, Kim Becker, Cranbrook and Glen Schuler of Tops. It is point­ed out that many of the seven million acres of summerfallow in the province are cultivated to the point where there is little or no crop res­idue to prevent soil drifting. The problem is compounded by excessive preseeding tillage which removes any remaining cover and pulverizes the soil. Recommended are the following measures for controlling soil drifting in an emergency sit­uation: * Work moist and slightly frozen clay soils with a cultivator on which half to two-thirds of the cultivator shanks have been re­moved and chisels have been attached to the re­maining shanks. The objective Is to obtain a cloddy soil surface. * Rip hard, frozen soils every 20 feet to a depth of eight inches to bring up big clods, Heavy spikes or a wide-blade cultivator adapted ’with a small six inch blade is recommended for this operation. * Ridge sandy and dry soils every three feet with lister or conventional shovels mounted on heavy duty cultivator. For sugary, perfumed stains, such as pop coffee and tea, fruit juices and. handlotion, sponge with cool water and dry. Have it professionally cleaned as soon as possible. Don’t attempt to remove dye stains such as lipstick, bhllpoknt ink, mustard, etc. These are best removed by a professional cleaner. Sheepskin should be cared for as,a suede. Brush with a soft brush often. To clean the fur side, try a mild poodle shampoo from a pet shop. It should clean the pile without damaging the hide. In cleaning, the dye is often removed from leathers and some suedes and must be redyed to the orig­inal color. This is a costly and exacting process. Professional cleaning Services for suede and leathers are expenisve but lb is the only choice to keep yotir garments looking their best for many years. Kathy Bosse, D.H.E. NEVER use cleaning agents, soaps, sol­vents, saddle soap, wire brushes or other abras­ives. Discoloration, rings and a "worn" appearance can result.
