He was 58 years of age. Willie was born, raised and educated in Magrath. He farmed and ranched in the Mag-rath area all of his life. Willie enjoyed sports, especially curling. He had resided in Magrath until his passing. Willie is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anne (Charles) Wesselman of Coalhurst and Mrs. Rose (Ora) Sommerfeldt of Magrath; two brothers John (Lydia) Brunner and Ludwig Brunner, Jr. both of Magrath; five nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents Ludwig and Rosina Brunner, and one brother Frank. Prayers were said in Martin Bros. Mem­orial Chapel, Lethbridge, Sunday evening. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday morning in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Father J. O'Reilly, celebrant. Interment followed in the Family Plot of the Magrath Cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Niznikowski, Fred Holzwarth, Bruno Brandt, John Bourne, Frank Hufnagel and Norm Christensen. SOCCER CLINIC Saturday, April 13th, 1 p.ra. at the S.E. The annual 4A Boys' Basketball Awards banquet was held in Magrath Tuesday night. Tim Rollingson Jr. was named most valuable player for the Southern Alberta 4A Boys Basketball League. Tim, who plays with Winston Churchill Bulldogs, and a Grade 11 guard, averaged 40.5 points per game winning the league scoring title. Magrath Zeniths' coach Phil Tollestrup was selected coach of the year after tak­ing the Zeniths to a provincial berth and consolation title at the Alberta 4A champ­ionship. Mark Tollestrup of the Zeniths was named to the first all-star team. Danny Balderson received an honorable mention. The annual Southern Alberta High School Girls' Basketball League banquet was held in Magrath Thursday evening, March 21st. Magrath Panda's coach Ross Blackmer was named the coach of the year. Magrath finished in second place with a 16-2 record in league play. Magrath is a 3A school and competed in a league domin­ated by 4A schools. Following league play the Pandas cap­tured the 3A Zone title defeating Kate And­rews in the final. They went on to the Provincial finals in Calgary and led up to the final game when they lost a heartbreaker to Olds Spartans in a 46-45 contest. Wendy Balderson was selected to the first all-star team. Paige Peterson receiv­ed Honorable mention. *********************************** MAGRATH SOCCER ASSOCIATION Soccer is starting again - May 1st - end of June for children Grades 1-3. Registration forms are sent home with children from school and must be returned by April 10th. They can be sent back to school or dropped off at the Town Office or mailed to D.
