The objective of the theoretical essay is to discuss the phenomenon of ageism in the organizational environment and its influences on the aging process. This is a relevant thematic due to the process of aging of the world population, and the negative representations of this process. The paper presents definitions about the aging process, assuming that it is singular and multifaceted. It also discusses the importance of labor and its identity, social and personal influences for the elderly people, as well as presents the phenomenon of ageism, a term used for any and all prejudice and discrimination that involves the age factor.
