Tony Lake was born on April 2, 1939 in New York City to Gerald and Eleanor Lake. He was raised in Connecticut and Massachusetts. He attended college at Harvard, Cambridge, and Princeton. His undergraduate major was American History. His graduate work included International Economics, Foreign Policy, and International Relations.
