The Use of Fictive Kinship Terms in the Chinese and Thai Languages and Their Cultural Connotation

拟亲属称谓是汉语与泰语共同存在的一种较为特殊的语言现象,在日常口语交际中运用十分广泛。汉语与泰语拟亲属称谓的使用都有选择性、变化性与表达形式多样性等特征。相同的特征,不同的语言表达方式,体现出两民族文化内涵的异与同。相同点即两民族突出重视亲情、人际关系与礼仪等民族心理特征,不同点即中国文化受儒家文化影响深重,突显排他性,而泰国文化突显兼容性特征。 Fictive kinship terms,which are special linguistic phenomena shared by the Chinese and Thai languages,are widely used in daily oral communications. People＇s use of fictive kinship terms in both languages are characterized by selectability,variability,and diversity. The use of such terms in two languages well mirrors the similarities and differences of the two cultures. Both cultures tend to stress on family ties,inter-personal relations and etiquettes. On the other hand,while the Chinese culture,heavily influenced by Confucian culture,displays its exclusiveness,the Thai culture is more inclusive
