The Rollins Women's Association sponsored the first Fiesta in the spring of 1937, and called it the Gypsy Fiesta. Featuring fortune telling, folk and gypsy dancing, a Punch and Judy show, Thieves' Market, pony rides, free diving, a rogues' gallery called the "Walk of Infamy" and food. The affair was intended to raise money for new tennis courts. Mrs. A.B. Trowbridge and Mrs. U. T. Bradley executed the Fiesta, which was held by the Lake. Floats, decorated cars and the college band parading were not organized until 1940. By 1949, the college was involving local schools in a poster contest
