KESADARAN DAN FAKTOR RESIKO YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN HIPERTENSI PADA KARYAWAN UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG

Background: Hypertension is called the silent killer because this disease is a deadly disease, this disease can give up anyone, both young and old. Risk factors for hypertension include age, gender, family history, obesity, diet, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, and physical activity. Awareness is one of the factors that determine a person's behavior. Therefore awareness of hypertension is important for controlling blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine awareness and risk factors, as well as awareness related to blood pressure to Employees of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Research Method: This study used a descriptive correlational research design using a cross sectional approach. The sample amounted to 93 respondents taken by the quota sampling technique. Analysis using Spearman Rank Correlation test with significance level (α) = 0.05. Results: The results of the study showed that awareness of hypertension in the Academic Community of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang was mostly in the high awareness category (71%). Risk factors for hypertension include age 18-29 years (46.2%), female sex (52.7%), family history (52.7%), body mass index in the normal category (54.8%), fruit diet and vegetables 1-2 servings (83.9%, 78.5%), smoking in the never smoking category (64.5%), alcohol consumption in the never consuming alcohol category (93.5%), physical activity in the category High Level (63.4%). The results of the statistical tests show that there is no relationship between awareness of blood pressure and p value = 0.732. Conclusion: Employees of The University of Muhammadiyah Malang have a high level of awareness of hypertension. Risk factors for family history, gender and consumption patterns of fruits and vegetables have the highest percentage in the incidence of hypertension. Awareness is not related to blood pressure in Employees of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang
