Juegos de rol en el aula de ELE: de la competencia comunicativa a la intercultural

It is presented in this project a didactic proposal for students learning Spanish as a second language to develop communication and intercultural competence from beginners level. The proposal is tailored for A2 English speaking students based in England. It is intended to improve not only linguistic competence, but also sociolinguistic, pragmatic and intercultural competence that are often forgotten when teaching a foreign language. The development of these skills will allow the student to avoid cultural misunderstandings. The social use of the language, the relation with the context and the non-verbal communication are the priorities of this project. It is proposed a teaching unit setting around the preparation of several roleplays. They consist of specific situations related to Spanish customs that enable students to practice all of the topics learnt. The students will learn cultural topics and expressions allowing them to perform in different situations. The last session is a performance that simulates a real communicative situation, relevant and useful for the student. The management of the different cultural factors will show if the goals have been reached satisfactorily. The performance brings together linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic aspects that allow learners to improve communication competence. To sum up, the objective is to develop speaking skills that take into consideration the use of the language in a particular cultural context and the nonverbal communication.Se presenta en este trabajo una propuesta didáctica para la clase de ELE que contribuye a desarrollar la competencia comunicativa e intercultural ya desde niveles iniciales. La propuesta está orientada a alumnos de habla inglesa residentes en Inglaterra de nivel A2. Se pretenden mejorar no solo la competencia lingüística, sino también las competencias sociolingüística, pragmática e intercultural, que a menudo quedan desplazadas en la enseñanza de una lengua extranjera. El desarrollo de estas competencias permitirá al estudiante evitar malentendidos de carácter cultural. El uso social de la lengua, la relación con el contexto y la comunicación no verbal son las prioridades de este proyecto. Se plantea una propuesta didáctica que gira en torno a la preparación de varios juegos de rol. Se proponen situaciones relacionadas con costumbres españolas que ofrecen oportunidades para poner en práctica lo aprendido. Los estudiantes aprenderán cuestiones culturales y expresiones para desenvolverse en diferentes circunstancias. En la sesión final se llevará a cabo una actuación teatral que simula una situación comunicativa real, relevante y de aplicación práctica para el aprendiente donde se pondrán de manifiesto distintos aspectos culturales que mostrarán si se han alcanzado los objetivos planteados de forma satisfactoria. La actuación aúna aspectos lingüísticos, sociolingüísticos y pragmáticos que permiten desarrollar la competencia comunicativa. En suma, se pretenden mejorar las destrezas orales teniendo en cuenta el uso de la lengua en un contexto cultural determinado y la comunicación no verbal
