Historia de las primeras traducciones al español de Madame Bovary (1875-1935)

This article documents the history of the first Spanish translations of Madame Bovary in Spain and Latin America over more than half a century: from 1875, when the first version was published in Spanish, until the Spanish Civil War, turning point in the Hispanic publishing world marked by the decline of the Spanish publishing industry and the boom of the sector in Latin America. Our main purpose is the analysis of the translations published on both sides of the Atlantic in that period with the aim of documenting the translation and editing practices used and establishing the foundation for a future catalog of the Spanish translations of this work.Cet article documente l'histoire des premières traductions en espagnol de Madame Bovary en Espagne et en Amérique latine pendant plus d'un demi-siècle: de 1875, quand la première version fut publiée en castillan, jusqu'à la Guerre civile espagnole, point tournant dans le monde de l'édition hispanique marqué par le déclin de l'industrie de l'édition espagnole et l'essor du secteur en Amérique latine. Notre objectif principal est l'analyse du flux de traductions publiées des deux côtés de l'Atlantique durant cette période dans le but d’étudier les pratiques de traduction et d'édition utilisées et d'établir les bases d'un futur catalogue des traductions en espagnol de cet ouvrage.Este artículo documenta la historia de las primeras traducciones al español de Madame Bovary en España y Latinoamérica a lo largo de más de medio siglo: desde 1875, cuando se publica la primera versión en castellano, hasta la guerra civil española, punto de inflexión en el mundo editorial hispánico marcado por el declive de la industria editora española y el auge del sector en Latinoamérica. Nuestro propósito principal es el análisis del caudal de traducciones publicado a ambos lados del Atlántico en dicho periodo con el objetivo de documentar las prácticas de traducción y de edición utilizadas y establecer las bases para un futuro catálogo de las traducciones al español de esta obra
