ABOUT HERALDRY IN MELlLLA The dictionary of the Real Academia Española defines the word heraldry as the coat of arms art. The coat of arms is the art of explaining and describing the arm shields in each lineage, city or person. We have a huge representation of arm shields in Melilla that includes familiar, ecclesiastical and local heraldry. In different places of the fortified enclosure of Melilla La Vieja arm shields belonging to kings or governors can be observed. There are several ecclesiastical coat of arms in the church of the Purísima Concepción. We find a good example of local heraldry in the different official buildings of the Ciudad Autónoma.
