Abstract The phenomenon of the socioeconomic segregation of schools has surfaced as a prominent concern in the country. The School Inclusion Law came into effect, in 2016, transforming the school selection process into a relevant issue within the educational policy debates by prohibiting schools, that receive state funding, from selecting students. The goal of this legislation is to prevent discrimination, such that if the school chosen by the family has the same number of applicants and vacancies, all of the students should be able to enter automatically.
