Entre 1960 y 1990 los Estados Unidos basó su política exterior en ¿ideología de la Guerra Fría¿ la cual se auto justificaba en la contención del comunismo en el Hemisferio Occidental. La tesis propuesta en este artículo es que durante este periodo Latinoamérica encausó varias revoluciones y los EE.UU. actuó como instigador de contrarrevolución. Este trabajo analiza tres movimientos revolucionarios en Cuba, Brasil, y Chile. Estos casos representan diferentes métodos que hubo en Latinoamérica donde se buscaba lograr la justicia social.
