El Docente Universitario Profesor y Maestro

To understand clearly the difference between the idea of teacher, professor and master is necessary to start with the question about the ideal of university that you wish: What kind of university do we want, and by that, what kinds of students and teachers? In first place sets the vision of university teacher as a professor, which comes from believe in a compromise and responsibility first of all with the truth, its search depends over all of academic community that accompanies and stimulates in his compromise. Critical reflection arises over the trend to privilege the transmission of disciplinary knowledge, as starting point to understand the mission of the teacher as master, especially in universities that have named of third generation. The master has to search untiringly the truth, as the target to do of each student a complete and solidary person, his job focuses in training, helping the student to give shape his life project. The master doesn´t work only with knowledge but with wisdom. It is because of that he depends of his life path that allows him to achieve the proverb “Nothing requires the master to the disciple that haven’t he required to himself ”.Para comprender con claridad la diferencia entre las nociones de docente, profesor y maestro es necesario iniciar con la pregunta sobre el ideal de universidad que se desea: ¿Qué tipo de universidad queremos, y por consiguiente, qué tipo de docentes y de estudiantes?. En primer lugar se establece la visión del docente universitario como profesor, la cual deviene de profesar como un compromiso y responsabilidad ante todo con la verdad, su búsqueda depende ante todo de la comunidad académica que lo acompaña y estimula en su compromiso. Se plantea la reflexión crítica sobre la tendencia al privilegiar la transmisión de conocimientos disciplinares, como punto de partida para comprender la misión del docente como maestro, sobre todo en las universidades que se han denominado de tercera generación, el maestro debe buscar incansablemente la verdad, con el objetivo de hacer de cada estudiante una persona completa y solidaria, su labor se centra en la formación en ayudar al estudiante a dar forma a su proyecto de vida. El maestro no opera solo con conocimiento sino con sabiduría es por ello que depende de su trayectoria de vida que le permite cumplir el proverbio “El maestro nada exige al discípulo que no se haya exigido antes a sí mismo”
