De uma periferia à outra na tradução português - dinamarquês.

This article aims at presenting the Luso-Danish history of translation in the sense of focusing some of the numerous factors influencing it, such as the relation between the history of translation and the history of the Danish language. While the first Portuguese work to be translated into Danish was Os Lusíadas, which as early as in 1828 – at the height of the Romantic epoch - conquered the considerable distance between the two peripheries of Europe, it was not until 1948 with the translation of Os Sertões that for the first time a Brazilian text was made available in Danish. The article offers examples of how an international ideological frame has been decisive for the translation of new texts and it shows how the remunerativeness of translated texts has often been unpredictable at the time of publication. Thus, it also proves that without extern financial support and a certain idealism on the part of the editors and translators, it is almost impossible to maintain alive the contact between two languages as Portuguese andDanish.Este artigo visa abordar a história da tradução luso-dinamarquesa no sentido de focar alguns dos numerosos factores que a influenciaram, como, por exemplo, a relação entre a história da tradução e a da língua dinamarquesa. Enquanto a primeira obra portuguesa a ser traduzida para dinamarquês foi Os Lusíadas que já em 1828 – em plena época romântica – venceu a considerável distância entre as duas periferias da Europa, foi apenas em 1948 que pela primeira vez se tinha acesso a um texto brasileiro, Os Sertões, em língua dinamarquesa. O artigo fornece exemplos de como um quadro ideológico internacional é decisivo para a aceitação de tradução de novos textos e mostra ainda como a rentabilidade das obras traduzidas tem sido, muitas vezes, imprevisível à partida. Assim, ele dá prova de como sem apoio financeiro externo e um certo idealismo por parte dos editores e tradutores se torna praticamente impossível manter vivo o contacto entre duas línguas como português e dinamarquês
