Photo of barn. Notes from Bill Mingle: I\u27m attaching a photo of my great grandfather\u27s barn. Shown in the photo, from left to right are: Joseph Wilson Brown, his wife Martha (Williams) Brown and their sons, Mearl, Dallas and Loyd. Loyd was my grandfather. The photo is dated spring of 1912. My great grandfather homesteaded his land SW of the Montana (KS) community in 1867. Loyd moved the barn, using housemovers, in the late summer of 1941 when the federal government acquired land to build the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. The barn was moved to SW of Labette City where it remained until torn down a few years ago. Because the land SW of Montana was at the extreme SE perimeter of the plant, the remaining buildings were not demolished. ...
