In Brazil there are already over 19 000 certified organic properties, mainly smallholder farming, and organic market is growing steadily in recent years. Biodynamic farming, organic agriculture, natural and agro-ecological system began to be accepted officially as agricultural production systems, from the law of organic agriculture (Law 10.831/03). In 2008 this law was regulated and, for the use of seeds, it was approved within five years for mandatory use of seeds derived from organic management. The use of seeds adapted to the cultural practices adopted by farmers and local conditions are essential to its success, autonomy and less dependence on external inputs, especially with the current situation of climate change.
