INTRODUCTION: Oscillometric devices are being widely used for ambulatory, home and office blood pressure (BP) measurement and many of them have been successfully validated using established protocols. However, even successfully validated devices fail to provide accurate measurements in some patients. Given the trend for mercury use elimination due to its toxicity, the limitation in reliability of oscillometric devices should be further investigated.
