The provision of amplification is currently the only effective means for managing sensorineural hearing loss. However, the interaction between digital wireless and hearing aid technologies may result in audible electromagnetic interference, thus impeding the accessibility of hard-of-hearing people to the available information. The aim of the present thesis was to quantify the bystander effect of 2nd and 3rd generation mobile telephones on the auditory perception of digital hearing aid users.
