Ständigt uppkopplade : En studie av hur sociala medier i smartphonen påverkar vår vardag

The use of social media is still going up and a lot of people are constantly available on their smartphones, which they always carry with them. Many studies show that it has adverse health effects. Therefore we would like to investigate how people experience the constant availability through their social medias on their smartphones and how it affects them. To investigate these experiences, an experiment was carried out where ten Swedish people had to be without their social media in the mobile phone for three consecutive days and keep a diary of their thoughts and experiences. They also had to fill out a survey to collect background information, as well as participate in a focus group interview where their thoughts and experiences from the experiment were discussed. The study's results showed that the lack of social media in the mobile phone had positive health effects, especially in the form of reduced stress, better self-esteem and better concentration. However, a negative effect emerged in the form of FoMO, a fear of missing out. However, this effect probably originated in the use of social media via the mobile phone. With this in mind, we believe that changing the use of social media in the mobile phone can benefit people's health
