Based on the reading of an autobiographical account, Une langue venue d’ailleurs (2011), this paper will try to deal with the question of being in-between languages: one for the foreigner and the other for the writer. What does it mean to write in another language? How does the writer appropriate a language which is, to him, foreign? Putting words on this process provides the author with a reflexive point of view to try to understand this process as to what played a role for Akira Mizubayashi in his appropriation of the French language.
