La cardiomyopathie dilatée est l'une des principales causes d'insuffisance cardiaque en Europe. Dans le cadre de la cardiomyopathie liée aux mutations du gène LMNA, en dépit des soins médicaux conventionnels, aucun traitement satisfaisant ne permet de pallier à la dilatation cardiaque progressive et à la perte de la contractilité. Le gène LMNA code pour les lamines nucléaires de type A, qui sont les principaux constituants de la lamina nucléaire.
