Beaucoup de phénomènes physiques sont modélisés par des équations aux dérivées partielles, la discrétisation de ces équations conduit souvent à des systèmes dynamiques (continus ou discrets) dépendant d'un vecteur de contrôle dont le choix permet de stabiliser le système dynamique.
