ABSTRACT PHYSIOTHERAPY STUDY PROGRAM FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH SURAKARTA Rachmawati / J120171049 "THE EFFECT OF ELDERLY GYMNASTICS ON THE ELDERLY ANXIETY IN BINA KELUARGA LANSIA MUDO BHAKTI UTOMO IN JAMBU VILLAGE JAMBU SUBDISTRICT SEMARANG REGENCY” (Supervised by: WIJIANTO, M.Or) Background: An elderly person is a person who has attained 60 years and above. From the health aspect, a group of elderly people will suffer a decline of health, either naturally or due to the diseases. The natural changes suffered by the elderly people are physical, social and psychological changes. The psychological changes that frequently happen are depression, anxiety, and dementia. Anxiety is a decline which is also influenced by physical health with mental problems, such as the pattern of life and attitude towards life, the loneliness, the feeling of worthlessness, the rising emotions, and the inability to adjust the elderly developmental tasks. The health efforts in this case can be undertaken by physiotherapist which aim to maintain and recover movement and function, one of them is by elderly gymnastics. Aim : to find out the effect of elderly gymnastics on the elderly anxiety. Research methods: This study employs a quantitative research with an experimental method in the form of one group pre and post test design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample of 22 people. The data analysis technique used the Paired Sample T-Test. Measurement of anxiety is measured by the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Research result: From the effects test with Paired Sample T-Test, it yielded sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000, for both severe anxiety and moderate anxiety in which the value of p (sig. (2-tailed)) was less than 0.05. Conclusion : There is an effect of elderly gymnastics on the elderly anxiety in Bina Keluarga Lansia Mudo Bhakti Utomo in Jambu Village Jambu Subdistrict Semarang Regency, in which the elderly gymnastics decreases the anxiety scores.
