The paper in question is devoted to the matter of translation, in particular, the issues connected to its artistic (literary) variety. The main aspects of a good translation is its faithfulness in rendering the original text, i.e. conveying the language content (the meaning); communicating particular reality, i.e. the internal world and temper of an author; and also the faithful transmission of cultural elements contained in an original text. After a theoretical introduction, the present paper deals with chosen literary works of Italian literature translated into Polish and French.
