Die Blaue Süßlupine kann aufgrund ihrer wertvollen Eigenschaften als auch durch ihr vielfältiges Nutzungspotential einen wichtigen Beitrag zur nachhaltigen Landwirtschaft leisten, jedoch schmälert ihre geringe Ertragsstabilität und -leistung diese Vorzüge. Züchtungserfolg ist jedoch aktuell durch eine geringe genetische Basis limitiert. Die Ertragsstabilität im Lupinenanbau wird maßgeblich durch die Pilzkrankheit Anthraknose (Erreger Colletotrichum lupini), beeinträchtigt. Ökologisch als auch ökonomisch sinnvoll ist es, gezielt nach Resistenzen gegen das Pathogen zu forschen und diese näher zu charakterisieren.
