International audienceAbstract: The excavation at Lesmont,'Pôle Scolaire' took place in April 2012 and, apart from Neolithic and Bronze Age features, revealed a series of six deep pits arranged in a huge arc spanning the excavated area. These pits are morphologically very similar to each other, having a circular plan, a U-shaped profile, a flat base, and a depth of 0.8 to 1 m. The only notable variation is the presence, in five of the six pits, of a cut feature, measuring 0.08 to 0.3 m in depth, within the pit floor. It was possible to date the pits through radiocarbon dating conducted on wood charcoal retrieved from the basal fills.
