Proposta di sottotitolaggio di tre episodi della serie Take My Wife

The main focus of this dissertation is to introduce the issues related to the subtitling of three episodes of the American webseries Take My Wife. This specific audiovisual product was chosen because of its focus on humour, which is based mostly on puns that depend on specific features of the English language, and are therefore challenging to translate into Italian. The dissertation is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the webseries Take My Wife and its plot and main character. The second chapter explores the topic of audiovisual translation from a theoretical point of view, focusing mainly on subtitling, as well as on the approach to cultural references and humour in audiovisual translation. The third and final chapter of the dissertation focuses on the analysis of the subtitling process for three episodes of the webseries Take My Wife and of the issues that have been faced during the creation of said subtitles. Three tables with the original dialogue and the Italian subtitles for each of the three episodes are included in the appendix
