There are different kinds of telecommunication networks that may have different structure and may utilize various technologies. The purpose of every kind of telecommunication network is to transmit signals in the network. Transmission of signals is done through different kinds of transmission media. It is possible to differentiate between the types of media depending on how the signals are transmitted and the transmission capacity of the media. The Telecommunications sector includes establishments providing telecommunications and the services related to that activity. The Telecommunications sector is primarily engaged in operating, maintaining and providing access to facilities for the transmission of voice, data, text, sound, and video. A transmission facility may be based on a single technology or a combination of technologies. Establishments primarily engaged as independent contractors in the maintenance and installation of broadcasting and telecommunications systems are classified under Construction. The mobile communications industry has been one of the most flourishing sectors within the ICT industry and, in general, within the economy.
