Erika Bourguignon describes her career at Ohio State, beginning as an instructor in, and ending as chairwoman of, the Department of Anthropology. Bourguignon also describes her childhood, first in Vienna, Austria, where she was born in 1924. Her family eventually immigrated to the United States where she went to school in New York City. After graduating from Queens College, she eventually went to Northwestern University for her PhD.
