litigations matters and, more particularly, at the methods applied to recognize or exclude a foreign norm. This particular article addresses the intervention of the notion of public order as understood in international relations. Just like in France, this standard allows Quebec judges to refuse to apply a foreign law or recognize a decision from a foreign jurisdiction in order to respect the fundamental values of the society. Indeed, we will see that public order may sometime oppose the recognition of foreign decisions based on a law that is considered discriminatory and have the effect of breaking pre-existing marital bonds.
