Peking (Beijing) quietly maintains its ambition to become a leader among the capitals of the XXIst century : modern therefore international, ecological, social and cultural. A great urban reorganization scheme has been triggered, at the scale of Chinese demography : immense. Within the last fifty years, Peking spreaded out following a concentric organization, continuation of the former Imperial city with its stacked surrounding walls nowadays disfigured. Economic development now tends to articulate a network of big cities (beyond Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan) on a wider territory, and to be released of the special constraints of a traditional metropolis.Pékin affirme sans fracas son ambition de figurer en tête des capitales du XXIe siècle : moderne, donc internationale, écologique, sociale et culturelle. Un vaste plan de réorganisation urbaine a été déclenché. Il est a l'image de la démographie chinoise : immense. Pékin dans le demi-siècle passé s'était développé selon une organisation concentrique qui prolongeait l'emboîtement des enceintes murées de la ville impériale aujourd'hui défigurée. Le développement économique conduit désormais à articuler un réseau de grandes villes (outre Pékin, Tianjin, Tangshan) sur une aire territoriale étendue afin de se dégager des contraintes spatiales d'une métropole traditionnelle.Jonathan Philippe.
