Le succès des cultures transgéniques aux États-Unis: facteurs agro-économiques et perspectives

Looking at the case of herbicide-tolerant soybean, this paper examines the agro-economic factors contributing to its rapid adoption in the usa. Firstly, data is presented on the transgenic crops cultivated around the world and in the usa. Then the paper examines agro-economic factors explaining the rapid spread of glyphosate tolerant soybean in the usa. It also takes up its various environmental and health aspects. Lastly, the prospects of transgenic crops are examined, taking into account outlet issues due to the suspicion of GMOs in some importing countries.A partir du cas du soja tolérant à l'herbicide gly- phosate, l'article analyse un certain nombre de facteurs expliquant la progression rapide des cultures transgéniques aux USA. Après avoir passé en revue leurs surfaces dans le monde et aux USA, on examine divers facteurs agro-économiques à l'origine de la diffusion rapide du soja tolérant au glyphosate dans les exploitations américaines. Divers aspects environnementaux et sanitaires sont aussi abordés. On s'interroge in fine sur les perspectives des cultures transgéniques en relation avec la question des débouchés sur certains marchés.Bonny Sylvie.
