1968-1975 : accelerated Housing Renewal - From 1968 to 1975, there was a great deal of construction going on in France. At least that is what the census of 1975 indicates. The most important development is the accelerated growth of principal residence housing (nearly 2 million more than in 1968 were recorded for 1975). These latter, as a result, are markedly renovated. The number of vacant dwellings and secondary residences continued to increase at a high rate (more than 4 % on the average from 1968-1975). The state-subsidized construction effort favored the raising of comfort conditions and eased crowded housing situations, as well as easing the housing market itself.
