Furu and Bagiro : the ubangian expansion of "sara " language. The Furu of Zaire and the Bagiro of the Central African Republic are minority groups about whom very little is known. They are linguistically distinct from their « Ubanguian » (Yakpa, Ngbugu, Mono, Ngbandi, etc.) and « Bantu » (Ngombe) neighbors. By comparing written sources about the Furu and original data about the Bagiro, a description is provided of these two peoples' identity, expansion and historical community. It is shown that they speak a single language related less to Kresh in Sudan (as strated in the written sources) than to the « Sara » dialects of Chad. The linguistic origin of the Furu-Bagiro migrations should, therefore, be sought in the north rather than the east....
