Pre-incubation of <i>L. intermedia</i> saliva with immune serum inhibits leukocyte recruitment.

<p>Air pouches were raised on BALB/c mice (five to six per group) and were inoculated with either endotoxin-free saline, <i>L. intermedia</i> SGS, <i>L. intermedia</i> SGS+immune sera (SGS+α-SGS), or immune sera alone (α-SGS). Exudates were collected twelve hours after initial stimulation. Leukocytes were enumerated microscopically. (A) Total number of leukocytes and (B) total number of neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils, and lymphocytes accumulated in air pouches.
