Baiana (literally a woman from Bahia) and her foodstand. The Baiana is one of the most picturesque and traditional figures in Brazilian culture. Her costume is a version of slave dress, especially that of the Reconcavo region. Even in colonial days large number of negro or mulatto Baiana women in traditional dress sold a variety of Afro-Brazilian dishes in the street.
