Best known is Júlio Páride Bernabó, called Carybé whose stylized Bahianas are sometimes abstracted to geometric designs that resemble cuneiform figures or African tapestries. These Afro-Brazilian women with their regal bearing are famous for their white lacy dress and turbans, heavy jewelry, spicy foods and coconut candies sold on the streets, and for their devotion to the deities of Candomblé
