<p>The ORC binding site is the only element within origins essential for ARS function. Therefore if an ORC binding site is ‘confirmed’ it means that it has been shown experimentally that a mutation in this site (specifically the ACS, which is the most conserved part of the A-element) abolishes ARS function. The majority of ORC binding sites listed in this table were either confirmed previously (primary reference listed) or confirmed for this study.
