<p>The number of hair cells in each row per 200 µm was collected at the apex, mid and base in P0 cochleas. In <i>Sfswap<sup>Tg/Tg</sup></i> mutants, the third row of outer hair cells is reduced in all areas. Loss is greatest in the middle cochlea. The number of inner hair cells is significantly increased at the apex. The total number of hair cells was counted in WT and <i>Tg/Tg</i> cochleas at P2 and mutants show a significant decrease in both inner and outer hair cells.</p
