Detection of VHSV in AT after intraperitoneal infection.

<p>(A) Transcription of the VHSV G protein in AT excised from infected fish at different times post-infection. Results are shown as mean gene expression relative to the expression of an endogenous control (EF-1α) ± SD obtained in five individual samples. (B) Head kidney and AT homogenates from infected and mock-infected (control) fish sacrificed at day 5 post-infection were used to infect EPC cells. EPC cells were then incubated at 14°C until a clear cytophatic effect was visualized (day 7). Viable cells remaining in the wells were stained with crystal violet. (C) Additional EPC cells treated with AT or head kidney homogenates from control and infected fish were collected and used to detect VHSV G protein expression through Western blot.
