The IRB Office will move to a new web-based system for management of IRB submissions--IRBNet. IRBNet is one of the industry’s leading human subjects research (HSR) software programs. It is a user-friendly, online method for researchers to submit and IRB members to review and act on proposals. Additional features include web-based protocol sharing and collaboration, automatic notifications, and audit capabilities including electronic revision histories, electronic signatures and event tracking. IRBNet will be available for use by the IU Health Ball research community this fall. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. CITI Training Replaces NIH Human Subjects Protection Education Individuals involved in human subjects research must be trained in human subjects protection (HSP). IU Health BMH is adopting a new Human Subjects Protection training program: the nationally-recognized Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) on-line HSP training modules. The modules are divided into two tracks: Biomedical Research and Social Behavioral Research. Continuing HSP education will be required for all researchers every 3 years following completion of the initial training. Rollout is tentatively set for this summer and will begin with IRB staff and members. Researchers who have already completed the National Institutes of Health HSP training will have a yet-to-be-determined period of time to complete CITI training.
