Most individuals outside of research are unaware of the function of an Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB is a group of individuals who review human subjects research that wants to be completed by individuals in their organization or institution. The IRB protects the human subjects\u27 rights and welfare involved in research and has the authority to approve, require modifications or disapprove of the research.
