“A Scape” is devoted to the theme of landscape and its relationship to London as a city. The series intends to work with the renunciation of both supposedly oppositional terms in order to deliberately and fundamentally search for a new space in-between, transforming the city into a strange confined space. Focused on the peripheral spaces of London, these images do not define the periphery as a ‘green belt’ but rather as ‘displaced areas’ – non-places presented in a state of ambiguity. The viewer perceives mountain or desert-like landscapes, but these places are man-made, abandoned and left to their own devises. The images exist beyond one's own comprehension of a landscape, raising questions of legibility
