Role of senior in the family

This diploma work examines the family role of seniors in today's world. The theoretical part describes the phenomenon of the quality of life with an emphasis on the quality of life of seniors. Furthermore, the work focuses on old age, its definition and characteristics, on seniors in the Czech Republic and the description of the elderly in relation to the family. The last chapter deals with the care for the elderly. The empirical part is motivated by the main research question: What is the family role of seniors living in residential facilities of social services from their own perspective like? To answer this question I conducted a qualitative research using a test of family system - FAST and the interview. The whole research is focused on seniors living in residential facilities of social services. I worked especially with retirement homes. The empirical part includes the research objectives and questions, the detailed description of the methods I used, the research sample and the description of the whole process of research. The complete research, its process and its results are then subjected to a critical examination in the discussion
